Chapter 10 “Breach of Fiduciary Duty vs Mistake” 2025

This week's chapter from Patrick:

Why should I listen to this chapter?

CHAPTER 10: BREACH OF FIDUCIARY DUTY VS MISTAKE 2025

A mistake is turning left when I should’ve turned right. A breach of fiduciary duty is failing to put gas in the car because of the inconvenience, ending up stuck in the middle of nowhere when I knew better. They’re different, however both of them can end your life or your company. One however, can be corrected by simply turning around, if you don’t get killed because you mistakenly turned into oncoming traffic. Running out of gas, now you knew better. If you get robbed or murdered or both, it’s your fault and when you passed that gas station, pushing the envelope of luck, it was irresponsible. Luck however is not God. God is God and God is all powerful. In Chapter 10 I’m talking about God, not man. That changes the whole concept of fiduciary vs mistake. A breach of fiduciary duty with God requires repentance, without it, I have committed a grave error, i.e. mistake.

Okay, right up front. The Breach is sin, the mistake is failing to recognize the sin as a gross error against God, and failing to repent. The bible throughout Jeremiah outlines the Jewish people, losing everything they have because they will not repent and change their ways. Judea and Israel completely lost to Babylon. And the remnant, still disobedient to God, destroyed in Egypt. The bible also mentions, in the book of Jonah, of the city of Nineveh. Upon realizing their sinful ways, did repent of their sins, and their city was saved from the wrath of God. Is it real. Yes, one thing I have learned over the years of study, the Bible, is real, the stories are historical evidence. What I do with the information is of paramount importance.

Let’s talk about God’s personal gifts to me or you in the right now. Some of us buy and sell products, others service and maintain products, still others mediate circumstances where learning new capabilities must be implemented to support companies, livelihood and families. A mistake in these matters, without God in it, would be to take a cash advance loan, or fail to pay tax, perhaps lose your temper at a customer or employee. Any of these mistakes have consequences if they are not taken care of. My argument would be that all of those errors are a breach of fiduciary duty and could cost someone their company, either in lawsuits or mounting financial difficulty. All of us know better than to do these things, and yet, we do them. A mistake is ordering pencils instead of pens, a desk instead of a chair, these things are easily corrected. This is not the example of Chapter 10 for my business or yours. The example of Chapter 10 is Breach of Fiduciary Duty against God. How does that happen in your business? I guarantee you that God gave you your business. He expected you to ask Him how to run it, nobody does. Money comes in, there is no gratitude for the Lord, or counsel with Him as to what to do with it. Is that a sin. Well, look at it like this. If you are not asking Him what to do, then you are doing whatever is right in your eyes. The chances of any of us doing what God wants without asking, is probably zero. That would mean a violation of the first commandment

Exodus 20:3 : “You shall have no other gods before me”.

To use these gifts for anything other than God’s work, would be a breach of fiduciary duty that we have all made, before we understood the glory of God, the blood of Christ, stewardship, gratitude and regular biblical teaching. All of us understand the concept of putting the almighty company above all things, God and family. Loans, no problem, personal savings, no problem, time instead of church, no problem, re-finance the house for the company, no problem. Anything for the company and God, as a priority is far down the list, if on the list at all. In Matthew 6:33, Christians are encouraged to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”. This verse highlights the importance of prioritizing God’s will and purpose in life, rather than worldly pursuits. Okay, easy enough to understand. What about using God’s gifts to look good, show-off, be important? Again, breach of fiduciary duty.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24 but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.

The difference of Chapter 10 in the world and in God. A profound difference, and a profound consequence in the case of God. God commands our special gifts, if not, we are on thin ice.

“It is evident the prophets could not prophesy when they pleased, any more than the disciples of our Lord could work miracles when they wished. The gift of prophecy and the gift of miracles were both dependent on the will of the Most High, and each of them was given only for the moment; and when the necessity was over, the influence ceased.” (Clarke)

We all know what happens when first making money. It is a journey that entails learning the pitfalls of having cash in hand without wisdom. No different than an athlete who runs the race and isn’t ready. Is disobedience not preparing? I’d say yes, especially when I know better.

I mean I can shoot baskets all day to stay in shape, but when somebody’s watching and I want to look cool, I can’t hit the net to save my life.

Let’s get back to God and Chapter 10. Many churches do not do the job of pushing back on the evil that is taking over our world. Some do, very few, hopefully you and I stay in that kind of environment. Would weak church be breaching a Fiduciary Duty? Yes. The bible says clearly, “teach the word.”

Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

2 Timothy 4:2 urges believers to “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” Matthew 28:19-20 commands believers to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Additionally, Colossians 3:16 encourages believers to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom.”

Luke 12:48B For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

What is it I stand for? What do I pray for, what do I ask forgiveness for and what do I ask Him for in the re-direction of my life? Or do I do any of that? Rather than understand sin committed and repent of it, most choose to ignore the clues in the history of God’s wrath rather than change their ways, even in the face of catastrophic failure. A quote by Meyer states clearly the problem:

“When men do not like the Word of God, they imagine that someone has set the speaker on against them.” (Meyer)

The highlight of chapter 10 is the “mistake.” Breach of Fiduciary Duty is the sin. Taking what God has given and abusing it, for things never meant to be done. What is the mistake? The mistake is that I decide not to repent. I just don’t care. I quote Meyer again:

“How strange it is that ungodly men always think the Word of God is against them, whereas they are set against it!” (Meyer)

There it is. Entitled to do what I want and create my own misrepresentation of Christ and then when life doesn’t work out, it is simply a mistake. As people say, just doing my best. Let it be known for every man, woman and child on Earth. Without God, my best will always lead to a breach of fiduciary duty. Always. It is not possible that I am given a divine gift of life and my business, then expect me, not a divine being, to handle it without the divine hand of God invited every minute. Without God, my best is not good enough. I must do better than my best, and to do that, God must be consulted, all the time, in all matters. I’m going to outline obedience in Fiduciary Duty and disobedience. Pay attention.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 “Blessings for Obedience.” 1 Now, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord, your God, carefully observing all his commandments which I give you today, the Lord, your God, will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm you when you obey the voice of the Lord, your God:

Verse 13&14 go on to say: The Lord will make you the head not the tail, the top not the bottom, if you obey the commandments of the Lord, your God, which I am giving you today, observing them carefully, 14 not turning aside, either to the right or to the left, from any of the words which I am giving you today, following other gods and serving them.

All good for obedience, what about disobedience? Failure to repent. Verse15.

“Curses for Disobedience.” 15 But if you do not obey the voice of the Lord, your God, carefully observing all his commandments and statutes which I give you today, all these curses shall come upon you and overwhelm you.

Verse 48: in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and utter want, you will serve the enemies whom the Lord will send against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he destroys you.

Breach of Fiduciary Duty by a Believer is the willful decision, walking against or without God. The mistake? No Repentance. Believing instead there is no consequence, no fear of God, no hell. Incorrect living placed first. Stupid leading to catastrophic destruction in the lives of all who are touched by that person. What is the cause? Power and authority of self — believed to be above God, supported by false knowledge, disobedience, irresponsibility, irreverence to the Bible, disrespect for the Word and ignorant of consequences, the arrogance of stupid. These consequences are far greater than simply ordering the wrong office supplies, or failing to read the directions on a box, they are in effect, life altering. A couple quotes by my favorite authors.

i. “As ye have determined to disobey, God has determined to punish.” (Clarke) “In running from death ye shall but run to it.” (Trapp)

Where will I stand in all this calamity? Where will you stand, ultimately with your life? With scripture, I pray, for us both.

Matthew 22:14  For many are called, but few are chosen.

Great men have and fallen, great countries, all without God. When teaching a secular or non-believing atheistic, altruistic or agnostic audience, breach of fiduciary duty is easy, it’s just a mistake. You can say you’re sorry, or not. It doesn’t matter. That’s the world. You plan to shoot somebody, kill them, you go to jail. People say, ‘the guy made a mistake.” Believe me, in the dimension God, it’s much more serious and without repentance, true and heartfelt, it is by far more dangerous. What exactly is Fiduciary Duty?

A fiduciary duty is a legal obligation to act in the best interests of another person or entity. This duty requires utmost good faith, trust, confidence, and candor, essentially placing the interests of the beneficiary above the fiduciary’s own.

When do I do that? All the time or some of the time? And how do I decide when it’s okay not to employ my fiduciary duty given to me by God. What does the Bible say about it? It says a lot. My favorite?

Luke 12:48 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

So, Breach of Fiduciary Duty must be the complete lack of responsibility given to me to do for the Lord. And if I fail to do that, without regret, that is truly Chapter 8. In short, I know better. God has made himself known to all of us. Still we do what is right in our own eyes, without prayer, study or even a second thought of it. Right? Right.

What happens if I am sorry and I regret my actions, truly, in my heart I want to return to God and His way? Will God help me? The answer I’ve found is a profound yes, of course, He loves you and wants for you the best and has planned for just such an event and reward.

Isaiah 61:. Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

Jesus said it great in the parable of the prodigal son. The black sheep of the family, had stolen his inheritance, and returned with nothing, knowing the wrath of his father would be upon him. But, in his sincere sorrow for his wrongdoings.., it turned out better.

Luke 15:21-22 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.

Saying I’m sorry to God means a lot more than to a court of men. Way a lot more!! Why then do we ignore such things? In 400 years of Israel and Judah, how many kings repented? Maybe one or two, maybe three, out of how many? Forty two. All of them walked away from the one true God and the nation paid the price to this day. Did they change? No. They didn’t care. Nobody cares about God …

UNTIL THEY DId AND THEN IT WAS TOO LATE.
What could have happened?
The Original BluePrint God had intended for an entire people!
The same if for you and me, time to wake up!

Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Do you know the greatest gift of fiduciary responsibility?
“To be allowed to Continue.”

Do you know the greatest consequence of the Breach?
“To be forgotten.”

If the business is lost, you are easily forgotten in the market place. If you choose to live life without God, you are easily forgotten by God. Both of them are hell, one on earth, one for eternity.

Matthew 7:23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Some might say the greatest gift is Heaven, others might say that the greatest consequence is hell. Benjamin Franklin writes “Wise men don’t need advice. Fools won’t take it.”

Revelation 2:5 If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place.

Revolution/Evolution. Revolt against yourself and evolve. Let me repeat myself. Breach of Fiduciary duty is the sin. The mistake is not repenting. In Chapter 8, nobody cares until they do, and when they realize, it’s too late. It’s a harsh lesson, pay attention.

Chapter 10 Breach of Fiduciary Duty vs Mistake 2025

Ecclesiastes 12:13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. Amen..

"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
